What is personal data?
Personal data as defined in Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR) means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. This data is subject to data protection legislation, in particular GDPR and the German Data Protection Act (BDSG), and is protected by technical and organisational measures.
Collecting usage data
All visits to our website are stored in a log. In creating this log, the following data is collected and stored by us until it is automatically deleted: the IP address of the computer sending the query, the date and time the website was accessed, the pages you visit and the website that directed you to our website. This data is collected and processed for the following purposes: ensuring consistent system security and stability, optimising our website, and creating and analysing internal statistics and profiles on how users surf the site. The legal basis for this processing is derived from Article 6(1), sentence 1, point (f) GDPR.
Web analysis tools
We have enlisted the services of the company Webtrekk GmbH (hereinafter “Webtrekk”) to collect statistical data on the use of our website and optimise the site accordingly. Webtrekk is data protection-certified by TÜV Saarland in the field of Web Controlling Software. Using a pixel, Webtrekk’s technology collects and stores anonymous data solely for optimisation purposes. This data is then used to create user profiles under a pseudonym. Cookies that collect and store data solely in pseudonymised form can also be used for this purpose. The data is not used to personally identify the website visitor. You have the option to configure your browser to inform you as soon as cookies are set so that you can refuse them as you wish. You can also activate a setting in your browser to prevent cookies being installed. In this case, however, you may find that certain functions on our website do not work properly. No personal data is stored. The user’s IP address is anonymised, so website visitors can never be traced.
To be excluded from Webtrekk’s web controlling on this website, a cookie named “webtrekkOptOut” is used. This selection is valid until the cookie is deleted. For each domain, the cookie is set per browser and per computer. This means that if you want to use our website at home and at work or with different browsers, for example, you would need to set the cookie each time.
Webtrekk also uses what are known as long-term cookies when you visit our websites. These allow our website to recognise you if you ever visit our website again and to optimise its content for you. Our standard setting is to allow cookies for a maximum term of 6 months. However, to allow us to optimise our website in the long term and provide specific content or user information, we also require cookie information for longer periods of time. Under this extended cookie use, you consent to the long-term cookies being held for a maximum of 12 months.
